A transparency solution for cost that aids payers and TPAs in fulfilling CMS transparency requirements. Sparity designed a User Friendly Healthcare Payer price transparency tool for members to make informed decisions.
Client: Healthcare Payers
Services: Web Application
Year: 2023
Key Challenges
- Members often receive bills that are difficult to decipher, with little transparency into the actual cost of healthcare procedures, tests, or treatments.
- This lack of price transparency can lead to financial stress, surprise medical bills, and an inability to make informed decisions about their healthcare.
- Members often visit out-of-network hospitals, resulting in costly double bills.
Technologies
Solution
- Sparity has developed a consumer-friendly Price transparency tool for Healthcare Payer as a compliant and personalised cost estimator into their website.
- It also enhances the user experience and helps members with the comparison of prices between healthcare providers
- Our UX team interviewed members to create user personas in UX design thinking process, collected services, treatments, costs of healthcare providers, and insurance profiling for easy navigation of user search.
- Built a user flow leading to low fidelity wireframing followed by high fidelity wireframing by including features like Search of Services, treatments, Selection of Healthcare Providers and Payers leading to cost estimation.
- Created input fields for users to log in and for the service search, along with CPT and ZIP codes.
- Enhanced the home screen with popular searches and a curated list of nearby facilities with ratings, distance, address, and prices with a Card System.
- Incorporated UI elements, including iconography for location, login, print, email, distance, etc., and visually represented step completion with color and icons on the progress bar table.
- As there was no predefined style, we opted for a user-friendly interface with a pleasant color palette, including whitespace with properly aligned elements in layout, enhancing UX by 85%.
- A/B testing was conducted during this process.
